More information:

The MITEI Associate Member Program Symposia Series is designed to bring together groups of energy experts for a formal discussion of critical and timely energy issues. After each symposium, a report is prepared and published, detailing the proceedings and providing a range of findings and recommendations.

The Symposium on the Role of Enhanced Oil Recovery in Accelerating the Deployment of Carbon Capture and Storage, which took place on July 23, 2010 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, was sponsored by MITEI member Denbury Resources Inc. and hosted by MITEI and the Bureau of Economic Geology, UT Austin. The symposium was organized into three panels that addressed the following key topics: (1) Geosciences, (2) Implementation, and (3) Policy and Regulation. The commissioned white papers, supplemented by papers and reports submitted by attendees, focused these discussions and form the core of the report.

It is important to note that this is a report on the proceedings and papers that informed those proceedings; it is not a study. The report represents a range of views from those at the symposium and, where possible, includes consensus or general recommendations from the presenters and participants; it is in no way intended to represent the views of all the participants, the individual participants, or of the rapporteurs.
