Yifu Ding joined the MIT Energy Initiative as a postdoctoral research associate in January 2023. She completed her Ph.D. in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford in December 2022. Her research encompasses probabilistic forecasts, uncertainty-aware control, and optimization for reliable power system operations under extreme weather and natural disasters such as wildfires. During her Ph.D., she visited the Alan Turing Institute in London and Johns Hopkins University, where she applied machine learning forecasting and game theory to the research. She is developing a data-driven India’s net-zero power system planning model at MIT Energy Initiative, considering the optimal coal power plant retrofitting solutions and decarbonization policy.
