AtmosZero, a startup co-founded by Addison Stark SM ’10, PhD ’14, is electrifying the centuries-old steam boiler with a modular heat pump they developed that is capable of delivering industrial steam at temperatures up to 150 degrees Celsius. This pump can serve as a drop-in replacement for combustion boilers and is cheaper to operate than commercially available electric solutions due to ultra-efficient compressor technology.

When Stark came to MIT in 2007, he joined the Technology and Policy Program. During his graduate studies, he also did energy-related research that was supported by MITEI.
