Rahman Khorramfar is a postdoctoral associate at MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI) and Laboratory for Information & Decision Systems (LIDS). He received his PhD in industrial and systems engineering (ISE) from NC State University in 2021, primarily working on hierarchical decision-making and optimization under uncertainty and their applications in production planning, transportation, and capacity expansion problems. Driven by the energy transition challenges, Rahman’s research has focused on future energy systems since joining MITEI. In particular, he is developing mathematical models and machine learning tools to identify and plan for cost-effective pathways to achieve deep decarbonization targets of the mid-century.
