William H. Green, MITEI director and Hoyt C. Hottel Professor at MIT, continues to lead MITEI’s leadership team. In April 2026, Antje Danielson retired from her position as director of education, and in June 2026, Rowan Elowe was announced as her successor and promoted to Director, Education.

External Advisory Board

The MITEI External Advisory Board, composed of esteemed industry, academic, nonprofit, and public sector leaders, meets each autumn and provides feedback on MITEI’s ongoing work and priorities. The Board, chaired by Ellen Williams, Distinguished University Professor Emerita, University of Maryland, offers perspectives and guidance that assist MITEI in maximizing its impact on campus and in the wider energy community. The FY26 meeting was held in October 2025.

Governing Board

The Governing Board, consisting of representatives of the Founding and Sustaining members of MITEI, provides input on the overall research directions and member activities and serves as the Program Committee for the Energy Research Seed Innovation Fund. The Board meets at least once a year. Founding and Sustaining members each have a seat on the Board.
